Job Title: Specialist, Project Engineering Job Code: 17118Job Location: Huntsville, HQJob Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off -Job Description: -Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for -our Huntsville, AL. The Specialist Project Engineer role supports an established program that involves nonconformance resolution, parts obsolescence, performing and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management. Under -limited general -direction, you will be responsible for implementing design and analysis tasks and overseeing special studies and experiments. Additionally, you will coordinate thermal and structural analyses, as well as perform post-test examination, analyses, and reporting while supporting the program technical lead. The following knowledge points and skills are ideal: - -Essential Functions: -

• 70% - Support Engineering teams working on solid rocket motor development and production program tasks/problem resolution, etc. Coordinate engineering work; manage technical progress, risk, schedule, and cost as needed
• 10% - Monitor technical progress and interface with Program Management, Aerojet Rocketdyne customers, and other Aerojet Rocketdyne functional organizations to understand and develop resolution to program technical issues
• 10% - Provide technical consultation to Program Management and Business Development organizations for business development activities such as writing white papers or preparing and presenting technical briefings to customers
• 5% - Support the technical lead on proposals to government customers or prime contractors for propulsion development or technology programs
• 5% - Provide inputs to written and verbal status reports to Engineering lead, Aerojet Rocketdyne Management, and provide input and leadership at product team meetings
• Provide imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of engineering techniques.
• Conceive and plan projects involving the development of new methods to attain objectives.
• Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas.
• Keep current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments
• May provide technical guidance to less senior project engineers and project support personnel
• May be assigned engineering Cost Account Management (CAM) dutiesUnderstanding and/or leading Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) processRead and interpret specifications (also write) and technical drawingsInterpret and evaluate engineering problems and statementsUse a variety of test and measurement equipment to interpret dataConduct technical and programmatic risk assessmentsBalance technical scope, customer expectations, and business interestsSynthesize program and technical requirements necessary to achieve complex technical objectivesEffectively plan and coordinate schedules, cost, and work flowWrite clear and accurate technical reportsMake effective oral presentationsUnderstand and interpret regulations and their impact on the Company's operationsEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of workUnderstand and interpret regulations and their impact on the Company's operationsEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
• Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance
• Travel: 10% -Qualifications: -
• Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior project engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior project engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior project engineering experience.Preferred Additional Skills: -
  • Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, and Material Engineering is preferred
  • Experience with solid propellant propulsion projects is highly desired
  • Technical background is preferred
  • Experience with nonconformance resolution and parts obsolescence is preferred
  • CAD knowledge is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is desiredFamiliarity with standard engineering tools and practicesAbility to create technical reports and present information to leadership
