Job Description - PROGRAM DIRECTOR II (T223472)Position
Summary:The Director of Admissions directs the admissions operation
for a highly competitive and selective medical school program with
more than 4,500 applications for 190 seats. The director manages
the admission staff to provide efficient, mission-driven, and
student-centered service to prospective students and applicants
from all over the country.This position coordinates complex
admissions processes for combined degree programs and tracks
requiring interaction with both clinical and basic science faculty
members. The director assists the associate dean in training
approximately 100 faculty and student committee members annually on
application reading and applicant interviewing techniques. This
position is also responsible for designing, coordinating, and
implementing a comprehensive recruitment plan for the medical
school, and coordinating with recruiters from other departments.Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Initiate annual strategic planning for admissions
functions.
- Make recommendations to the Associate Dean for policy changes,
recruitment strategies, admissions requirements, and upholding
standards with combined degree programs.
- Actively incorporate changes at national and local levels into
the planning process.
- Develop and lead a comprehensive recruitment plan.
- Travel to promote the program and recruit outstanding
candidates.
- Build relationships with pre-medical advisors.
- Advocate and promote pipeline programs to advance
underrepresented in medicine recruitment.
- Represent the office and medical school to other institutions
of higher education, University units, professional organizations,
media, and the public.
- With Senior Director for Enrollment Management, work with a
vendor for admission software including annual updates and
enhancements including testing and training of users.
- Develop, revise, and implement a communication plan for all
application processes including email, newsletters, and other forms
of media.
- Handle special reviews, confidential matters, and sensitive
issues regarding individual applicants; respond to Admissions
inquiries, counsel premedical students, and advise individual
applicants on admissions processes and procedures.
- Oversee, plan, and coordinate Admissions interview days
including setting the interview dates and planning the agenda for
multiple programs.
- Work with Student Admissions Co-Coordinators in running the
Student Host Program for student tours, lunches, and panels at
interview days and recruitment events.
- Produce reports and share with key school constituencies
including the Admissions Committee and medical school deans.
- Plan, write, and edit publicity and promotional materials,
including admission guide and web-based information; work closely
with medical school communications professionals.
- Manage AAMC and vendor participation agreements.
- Ensure the Admissions Office is in compliance with applicable
federal and state regulations, AAMC and LCME requirements, and
institutional policies and procedures.
- Determine residency classifications for incoming medical
students according to University policy and procedures.
- Hire, evaluate, train, and supervise admission staff.
- Evaluate employee performance and utilize internal and external
opportunities for professional development.
- Chair the Criminal Background Check Committee to review
background checks for admitted students and recommend actions to
the Admissions Selection Committee.
- Work closely with other unit leaders within Enrollment
Management.
- Work closely with the Offices of Undergraduate Medical
Education, Medical Student Services, Access and Engagement,
Financial Aid, and other appropriate campus
entities.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a related field and
five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may
NOT substitute for education requirement.Salary Range: $60,835 -
